How To Talk To Plants

Have you ever heard of Sprout?  Google the word and you get a lot of different results.  But this definition is an agricultural application on Google’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform that enables you to communicate with plants.

You may already know that plants can grow without soil.  It’s called hydroponics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydroponics); basically, exposed roots are sprayed with nutrients.  Sprout is a way to monitor these plants’ health through sensors connected to a server and a chatbot that can translate the parameters into words.  Think of it as Siri for plants.  Now even beginning gardeners can try growing hydroponically.

The sad fact is that almost 800 million people go hungry every year.  Whether you’re an amateur gardener or simply trying to keep from going hungry, ideas from people like Keenan Pinto may provide the answers.
