If you are interested in scientific research and have some time, but no training, don’t worry, you can still contribute. That’s why zooniverse.org ( https://www.zooniverse.org/ ) was founded — “the world’s largest and most popular platform for people-powered research.”
Scientific research may sound glamorous, but there is a lot of routine work analyzing data. This is especial true of fields like astronomy, where telescopes can collect huge amounts of information. Who has time to look at all that?
Someone has to, and that someone could be you. Just go to zooniverse.org, click on “Projects,” select one of the 11 categories, from Arts to Space, and pick a project; Climate had 11 offerings. Out of curiosity, I selected “Fossil Atmospheres” under Climate and the description was “Count cells of modern & fossil leaves. Help us track climate change over millions of years!” Yes, it sounds tedious, but remember the saying “It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it.”
And in science, there are a lot of tough jobs, so this is your chance to make a contribution.
