When to Wash Your Hands

Every so often, I read something that really makes me think.

Like the headline “The 3 Things Experts Wish Everyone Would Wash Their Hands After Touching” by Monica Torres. If you had a childhood like mine, I’m sure you heard the “Wash your hands” command many times. But what do the experts think are the most risky day-to-day items for spreading sickness?

Here they are —

  1. Pin Pads — No, I didn’t think of this one either. But you probably come in some type of contact with a pin pad every time you use your credit card. How many people do you think have touched that pad before you on that same day?
  2. Grocery Cart Handles — This was a big item during the COVID pandemic. I can remember wet-wipe dispensers at the entrance to many grocery stores. Although COVID may be behind us, a whole bunch of germs are still around.
  3. Phones — Since most of us take our phones everywhere we go, they will be in contact with everything we touch, which means they can get really germy.

Granted, it’s not practical to keep washing your hands during a shopping trip. But you can keep the sanitizer handy, especially before you use your phone. And it’s a good idea to sanitize your phone about once a week.

Hopefully, this awareness will help keep you healthy for the rest of the year.
