What to Do For Earth Day

If you’ve seen today’s Google Doodle, you know it’s Earth Day.  BTW, I took the quiz, and I came up Wolly Mammoth  — technically extinct, but someday I could be cloned!

Speaking of Earth Day, there is one project I’ve always wanted to try.  I think it would be fun to have a butterfly garden.  There is a pretty comprehensive website at http://www.thebutterflysite.com/gardening.shtml. Included are the butterflies of North America by state.  I’m tenpted to provide details for my state of Ohio, but there are too many to count.  It’s easier to go to the website.

This website also has other ideas, like ladybug kits ($24.95), growing frogs from tadpoles (kits starting at $19.95), and Venus Flytrap kits ($19.95).  Oddly, the worm-farming kits are sold out.  Then there is the classic ant farm (medium farm is $19.95 with one tube of ants).  Get more than one and connect them!

But I still think a butterfly garden would be more satisfying in the long run.
