I guess we’re all supposed to read something this summer. I know it’s pretty much a given that high school students will have a summer reading list, but several of the news programs and publications I follow have been coming out with reading lists of their own. They must assume everyone gets a vacation with lots of free time.
One of the more interesting lists is what Bill Gates recommends (http://time.com/4786592/bill-gates-summer-reading-list-2017/?xid=newsletter-brief ). If you haven’t heard, his list consists of these five books.
A Full Life, by Jimmy Carter.
Homo Deus, by Yuval Noah Harari.
The Heart, by Maylis de Kerangal.
Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah.
Hillbilly Elegy, by J.D. Vance.
If any of these titles pique your interest, you can find Mr. Gates’ full reviews at the above link. Or click on the titles to go directly to Amazon.com.
I have my own stack of books, which unfortunately with take longer than one summer to finish. I’ll report on my progress as I complete them.
