Pearl Harbor and Virtual Reality

Today is December 7th, Pearl Harbor Day, the “Day That Will Live in Infamy”.    I’ve just learned of a new way to remember how we entered World War II.  There is a virtual reality app, Remembering Pearl Harbor, being advertised by Life VR.  My technical expertise is pretty limited, so all I can tell you that the trailer can be viewed at  http://time.com/4583817/remembering-pearl-harbor-virtual-reality/?xid=newsletter-brief.

For a history nerd like me, the prospect of recreating historical events through virtual reality is very exciting.  Pearl Harbor would be pretty straightforward to produce because there would be some video and lots of still pictures, and I think the gaps could be filled in with computer simulation.   It’s a bit mind-boggling to think of what else could be done in this field. Imagine standing beside General George Washington at Yorktown!   Valley Forge?  Not so much.
