Do You Want a Telescope?

I have always been fascinated by astronomy.  I had a modest telescope in high school, but all I could find in it was the Moon.

As an adult, I tried again, buying a simple instrument for about $100.  I think I saw Venus this time.  I’ve investigated the more expensive telescopes that find celestial bodies automatically, but they have to be calibrated by finding a reference star, and I was always afraid I could never find the correct star.

But we live in a wonderful age technologically, and yesterday I found a website called worldwidetelescope.com.  I’ve downloaded their software and all I can say so far is it runs on my computer, but this looks like an excellent way to get your astronomy fix.

As someone once said, the sky’s the limit!  Especially for this generation.
