This afternoon I was out spraying apple trees. Between me and my neighbor, we have five apple trees of different varieties. Mine are just maturing; hers are prolific.
This looks like a good year for apples. The complication is about the time my trees matured and started bearing fruit in quantity, I realized I really don’t like apples. My neighbor does, but is overwhelmed by the bounty. So we give most of them away.
From past years, I’ve discovered fruit charity has three distinct stages. First, my friends tell me “Sure, I love apples! I’ll take whaever you want to give me.” Second, I’m fed apple crisp everywhere I go. Third, people start avoiding me.
Do you like apples?
