Professor Lise Meitner receives the scroll symbolic of the Honor as she becomes the first person to be awarded the “Otto Hahn Prize,” for Chemistry and Physics at a Munich ceremony. The man for whom the award is named, Nobel Prize winner Professor Otto Hahn, looks on. Director of the Nuclear Research Department of the Mechanical Scientific Academy in Stockholm, Sweden, she won the prize for her research. Professor Meitner has done scholarly work at Rutgers College in New Brunswick, N. J., and at Smith College, in Northhampton, Mass.
